Covent Garden Masterplan

During KPF, Michiko worked as a design lead for Covent Garden Masterplan which played a key role in the regeneration and conservation of London's Covent Garden Estate as both master planner and architect. Recognizing its need for improvement despite its rich history and cultural assets, Capco sought to create a world-class, mixed-use district. This master plan envisioned Covent Garden as a cohesive entity, building upon its diverse past as a residential area, marketplace, and entertainment hub. A primary focus was improved permeability, achieved through new pedestrian routes and courtyards connecting key areas and alleviating congestion. Historic buildings were restored and adapted for modern uses. New architecture draws inspiration from Covent Garden's unique character and varied architectural styles, respecting the area's fine grain and idiosyncratic nature.
